Hanga Piko

Hanga Piko means "the hidden bay" because unlike most other beaches on the island it is surrounded by hills. In the center of the bay stands a moai, Ahu Riata. Hanga Piko is also the port of the island, as much for the traditional fishing activity, as for the cargo boats for supplies. It is also the starting point for maritime tourist activities such as boat trips, or diving. Finally it is also here where you can observe the sea turtles, or the young Pascuan going to sea in Polynesian canoes or Va'a.
